to change the carrier image that is located on the top left of the screen (default icon says ipod)

note: there are (2) images to edit here one that appears on the home screen, and one that appears when you are inside an app

its pretty easy to change

1. in PS create a graphic that is no larger that 20px high, width doesn’t matter as much but don’t go too long mine was 85×20 and it looks nice
2. i made mine with at transparent bg
3. save as png24 w/transparency

this is where you upload the one thats on the home screen:
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png

this is where you upload the one thats shown when inside an application:
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png

on a side note before i uploaded my new images i backed up the orig images by appending the filenames of the originals so i can easily restore them to what they were.
