review Hendrick’s Gin

Hendrick’s Gin… ever hear of it? you might have seen the bottle once or twice on the shelf at a retailer. if you are like me [bourbon/whiskey/scotch drinker] you most likely don’t mess with gins. well, one day while at a local retailer i noticed the bottle. the bottle spoke to me. no no - not literally - it was sitting there short and squat. looking like something pulled off a pirate ship. i was drawn to the design. the simplicity. i picked it up, glanced down and noticed a little pamphlet attached which read “”Preferred by 1 out of 1000 gin drinkers” and “It is not for everybody” and my personal favorite “loved by a tiny handful of people all over the world”. wow. it now was something i had to try - mostly because i am not normal, and i must be one of those “1’s”.

partition size not a multiple of 4k

when formatting an external HD today [Mac OS Extended Journaled(HFS+)] i ran into the following error.
“partition size not a multiple of 4k”
after a quick google search, i found the following fix:
“When formatting using Disk Utility, remember to select GUID Partition Table as your “partition map scheme” instead of MBR (Master Boot Record).”
basically do as follows:
- 1. open disk utility
- 2. select the drive
- 3. select the “partition” section
- 4. under the volume scheme select the number of partitions required
- 5. select the “options” button
- 6. make sure “GUID Partition Table” is selected NOT “Master Boot Record”
- 7. click apply
you now should be good to go and the drive should function correctly. yay!
how to install windows xp64 on a mac pro

holy crap, it took a bit of time but last night i was able to install windows xp x64 on my mac pro. i guess the first question is why do it? well for me it was pretty simple…
i like gaming every now and then… ok maybe a little bit more now than then. sadly, a couple of the games i like are not ported over to mac so since i have rid myself of pc’s over the years i run boot camp.
well, why xp64 then?
simple prior to last night i was running boot camp with xp pro sp2. but funny thing is i never seemed to have enough ram. well come to find out that even though my mac pro has 10gigs of ram (yes i said 10) windows xp only saw 1.9gigs. this isn’t caused by the windows cap of 4gigs, it is caused by a firmware issue with boot camp. the only way to get your mac to see any more ram is to install windows xp or vista 64 bit.
so should be simple eh? one would think.
well, apple doesn’t include any 64bit drivers for windows with boot camp (well the version i have and can get anyway) so here is what i had to do…

backup the mac book pro - just in case

well, i just finished backing up the mac book pro…. just - in - case… took way longer than i hoped. i am one of those people who always like to do fresh/clean installs. so i back everything up to my already almost maxed out MyBook. then i delete the extra partitions, and let the low level format begin. my wife bid me farewell, as she knows that i wont emerge from the office until this mission is complete, or i need to top off the scotch
ok maybe for a brownie too…
