review Maine Root handcrafted sarsaparilla

i was in WholeFoods today, jonesing for something to drink. i walked down the usual isles, starting with the teas and waters. then down the organic refrigerated section - didn’t feel like a wheatgrass or acai type drink. then on to to my favorite section - the beer section - hmm.. nothing seemed to grab my attention. although, i did buy two beers to try later (more on them another time though). as my wife was looking at the prepared foods, i strolled over to another refrigerated case and there it was. all alone. one brown bottle. it said Main Root. i chuckled. i picked it up. i read the three ingredients - purified water, organic evaporated cane juice (i love the fancy names) and spices. how delightfully simple i thought. intrigued i picked up the cold brown bottle.

so i gathered my drinks, and found the wife… checked out.. walked to the car. as we drove off, i pulled the bottle from the brown paper bag. i opened the bottle, there was a soft –ppphhhishhhtt sound and a slight mist as the bottle pressure was equalized. i took a sniff - it smelled light, clean, sweet with a hint of spice. anxiously, i took my first sip. very clean and creamy, no medicinal taste, not too sweet, not too spicy. i tasted a bit of whitergreen not too much clove or anise. the body is on the lighter side (as it should be in my opinion). very refreshing. this is the fist time i have enjoyed a bottle of sarsaparilla or any other drink from Main Root, but i am sure that next time i visit WholeFoods i promise i will pick up a six-pack of this pleasant tasting organic handcrafted drink. i will have to do a bit of investigation as to what other flavors are available. as i am sure they must be equally enjoyable.
